Question - Response
In the second part of the TOEIC listening section, you will be asked a question about almost anything and you need to choose a suitable answer.
The trick here is to watch out for:
- Words that sound similar but have different meanings (homonyms)
- WH- questions - who what, when, where, why, what - that need logical answers
- Questions with question tags (don't you, haven't you, is it...)
- yes / no questions which may have no direct yes / no answers
- Know your modal verbs
- Know your time prepositions
- Remember your comparatives and superlatives
- Pay attention to NEGATIVE markers (un.., not, in...)
- Recall the different meaning of Used To
- habitual action
- We used to go to NY for Christmas before living in Asia
- be accustomed to
- She is used to visiting her parents in Montpellier every weekend
- There are typically several questions about people's OCCUPATION in the TOEIC Listening Comprehension section. Make sure to pay attention to this and get familiar with the name of the most common occupations
- There are several questions about the speakers' RELATIONSHIP (friends, coworkers, colleagues, family, etc) Look for clues in the photograph or in the audio.
